I live by the Tay where a glorious view of the passing waters gives my monkey mind free rein to relate the world through microscope or telescope. As well as being a member of theNethergate Writers, I’m lucky enough to explore writing with the Wyverns, Writers for Writers, and Dundee’s Open Book.
Since a very young age, I’ve made up stories and written them down, but after receiving my undergraduate degree in 1979 I thought I needed to live life so that I’d have something to say. That took longer than I expected and I have engaged in such undertakings as marriage and children, organic farming and horse breeding, bookbinding and other forms of art. Eventually, I began to write again more seriously and thought about further education.
Since gaining an MLitt at University of Dundee in Writing Practice and Study in 2019, writing has been my focus. I’ve been published in Shoreline of Infinity, Dreich Poetry Magazine, and in UniVerse Being Human collections and have received some awards and commendations from the Scottish Association of Writers competitions.
Writing is my breathing, as well as breathing being my breathing. Injustices and the means to right them draw my attention, and the natural world brings me a joy which I try to share through my writing.
