How long have you been a writer?<\/strong><br \/>\nI only started writing seriously in my late forties, but have written on an off all my life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Have you had anything published?<\/strong><br \/>\nI have not had anything published though little bits of this and that have appeared about the place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Do you have a writing routine?<\/strong><br \/>\nNot recently, but I find you are at your most creative in the morning and leave the afternoon for editing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Who is your literary hero or heroine (real or fictional) and why?<\/strong><br \/>\nDoctor Johnson once said to admit someone else\u2019s greatness is to admit your own littleness, so I don\u2019t have any heroes, though I admire wordsmiths like Rabbie Burns, Sir Walter Scott, Charles Dickens, Samuel Beckett and others.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nethergatewriters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/RG.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-265\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nethergatewriters.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/RG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"852\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nethergatewriters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/RG.jpg 576w, https:\/\/nethergatewriters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/RG-203x300.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Do you prefer working in a particular genre?<\/strong><br \/>\nI have had a go at most of them but find sticking to a particular genre restrictive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Do you have any writing ambitions?<\/strong><br \/>\nI would like to get a book published.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7. Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?<\/strong><br \/>\nPractise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>8. What are you reading at the moment?<\/strong><br \/>\nI am reading five books at a time and making very little progress with any of them at the moment. David Copperfield by Charles Dickens; The Political Unconscious by Fredric Jameson; Selected Writings on Art and Literature of Charles Baudelaire translated by P.E.
