Here’s our Chair, David Carson, with an update from our most recent meeting.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nPresent: Aileen, Abby, Craig, Roddie, Ray, David C.

1. Business.<\/strong>
\n(a) 50 Shades update:
\n– Abby continues to liaise with Waterstones. Paperwork still to be completed.
\n– sales – Tartan Caf\u00e9 a possible outlet (Craig)
\n– pop-up stall at Farmers\u2019 Market (Roddie)
\n– Watermill Aberfeldy, Birnam Arts, Dunked (David)
\n– Quirky Coo and McManus (Abby)
\n– website (Craig, when launch date established)
\n– Rosie estimates 70-80 copies have been sold
\n– Press release: Abby to finalise when launch date known. And she will pursue possible quotes from Esther and\/or Zoe.
\n– launch: 3 possible time frames – 9-11, 16-18 or 23-24 August.
\n– All members will be circulated when date finalised to seek availability
\n– Blow-ups of illustrations of stories could be displayed (Craig)<\/p>\n

(b) New Project
\n– general discussion confirmed outline made at the last meeting.
\n– all members to suggest a potential theme for next meeting (in person or by email)
\nThe volume of response will be a measure of members\u2019 commitment.<\/p>\n

(c ) Accommodation:
\nTo be investigated
\n– fire station (Richard)
\n– libraries (Roddie)
\n– Abertay (Abby)
\n– church halls (Craig)
\nOther related issues are to keep the University option \u00a320 per session) under review, and to revisit the times that we meet (eg 6-8 or the likes).<\/p>\n

(d) other related items:
\nRoddie will send round details of a writing event organised by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
\nHe will also contact local writer Andrew Murray Scott for an endorsement of Fifty Shades.<\/p>\n

\n1. Go With the Flow. (David C.)<\/strong>
\nReactions mainly concerned making clear where the protagonist was and in what condition he was, although the opening metaphor of memory as a river was well received. The voice is unconvincing as it stands.<\/p>\n

2. A Mixtie Maxtie o\u2019 Mountain Destinations (Roddie)<\/strong>
\nAn energetic and colourful description of many mountains and associated memories. Written in Scots,
\nwhich gives it a muscular tone. Clever structure (\u201cA\u2019the airts\u201d takes us south and east and west and
\nnorth). Do you need to know the munros to appreciate it? Probably not, although acquaintanceship gives
\na certain immediacy.<\/p>\n

3. Clubs for Trumps (Roddie)<\/strong>
\nRoddie calls this a \u201cTalking Blues.\u201d As a resume of the Donald\u2019s mangled and egotistical mayhem it is highly effective, as are the numerous
\ngermane historical references. The last line of each stanza neatly summarises the previous lines\u2019 invective.<\/p>\n
